My Top 5 App Recommendations to Enhance Your Digital Life in 2024.

Created by DALL-E

A new year is an excellent time to experiment with new ideas. It allows us to play around with new tools and services. In this spirit of exploration, I’ve compiled a list of five incredible apps / services that I began using last year and recommend you try in 2024: These apps are here to enhance your digital life, from revolutionizing your browsing experience to transforming the way you manage your finances.

Here we go:

1. Arc — the Browser app.

Who needs yet another web browser? Right! I had the same thought. However, Arc changes the way we browse the web. It’s not just about speed and efficiency; it’s about a completely reimagined browsing experience that includes a novel approach to tab management and an interface that adapts to your needs intuitively. Arc also syncs flawlessly across all of your devices, can transform browsing into a social experience, and is updated weekly, adding very useful new features on a regular basis. What is lacking? A full-fledged mobile version that will render Safari obsolete… perhaps in 2024?

2. Revolut — the Financial Super-App.

I used to be a big fan of N26, but it became a bit stagnant over time. Revolut is the polar opposite of that! It’s on its way to becoming a true super app — a one-stop solution for managing your finances with an excellent UX that prioritizes simplicity and speed. And features I’ve never seen before. Here’s an example: REVOLUT<18, a bank account for children aged 6 to 17 that parents can set up in minutes. It includes a dedicated mobile app for your child that not only makes financial supervision super easy, but also teaches them how to manage money in the digital age. Very cool.

3. Quillbot — the AI-Powered Writing Assistant.

My usual go-to solution for AI assisted writing is DeepL Write — which is really great. But Quillbot is much more, with lots of different tools like Quillbot Flow for composing longer text and a mobile keyboard that lets you easily paraphrase sentences as you write. It is more like Grammerly, but cheaper and more modern. It is simply a very versatile tool for writers who want to improve their writing skills and the overall quality of their content.

4. Kagi — the spyware-free search engine.

I’m old enough to remember when Google’s user interface was simple and search ads were actually useful. Now it feels completely clogged with ads powered by constant tracking. If you’re looking for an alternative, try Kagi, a search engine with a clean, spyware-free interface that delivers really good search results. Much better than many other options. It’s also highly customizable, allowing users to tailor their search experience. The only drawback? It is not free and ranges in price from US$4.5 to US$25 per month, depending on the subscription plan selected.

5. Twos — the totally different To-Do App.

Twos rethinks the traditional to-do app with its innovative features and intuitive design. It’s more than just a task manager, focusing on two elements: “things” & “lists”. It helps you organise and “remember” your life by combining to-do lists with notes and a calendar-based journal. Twos also comes with lots of collaboration features and a small built-in social network for sharing content within the Twos community. It is different, but worth a try.

I know this is a highly subjective list. Are there any innovative and useful apps or services that you discovered in 2023 that we should try this year? Then please leave a comment below with your suggestions.
